Many of you know David, who was a part of the footwear industry for over 35 years. As a matter of fact, he grew up around the business and many of you worked with his father, Arthur. David spent many years with Kenneth Cole and Arthur was known for his long career at Caressa.

In late 2017, Arthur began exhibiting signs of dementia. And by 2019, he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. Lewy body dementia affects chemicals in the brain whose changes in turn can lead to problems with thinking, movement, and mood. As you read this Arthur is OK, all things considered. However, he cannot ambulate on his own at all. David is happy to report that he and Arthur often talk about his fond memories of the shoes business!

In 2021, David’ experience with both his parents lead him to a new calling as he is now part of Senior Care Authority, a network of elder care consultants. David is using his work ethic along with his customer service skills (both of which he learned from Arthur) to help families when discussing the needs of their aging loved ones. He is now a Certified Senior Advisor, a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified “Beyond Driving with Dignity Professional”.

David knows first-hand the challenges that families face. Some of those challenges rest in being educated on the resources that are available. He likes to say, “You don’t now what you don’t know”. David and Senior Care Authority are now available to help the NST membership find appropriate solutions to help families navigate the senior care landscape.
